What would make you say “no” to a job or compel you to quit?
From insufficient pay to expecting work on weekends to asking about family planning during an interview, here’s what will make people happily bid adieu to their jobs.
Do you think Millennials and Gen Z are changing work culture by saying “no”? Here’s how these two demographics are collectively rejecting hustle culture –
✅ They don’t find glory in blind devotion to the grind.
✅ They don’t shy away from talking about mental health.
✅ They don’t work on their rest days.
✅ They don’t think it’s admirable to work themselves to the grave.
Quite often, people find the salary, as the biggest motivator, as well as the biggest deal breaker for a job. However, having interviewed several people over several years career, and worked in various jobs before starting on one’s entrepreneurial journey, a successful career is an outcome of certain aspects in every organisation, and if these are not available, these are signs that should make you walk out of a particular job interview.
How is the integrity of the organisation? In some of my interviews, I realize interviewers wanted to get lot of sensitive information from your earlier organisation. This is one of the most unscrupulous thing, an organisation can seek for . If they do not believe in fair play and want to use you to get sensitive information, in lieu of offering you a job, they will shortchange you for other resources some day.
What is the prime focus of the organisation while hiring you ?
Is it more focussed on your abilities and what you achieved/ can achieve for them . If it is more to do with what you earned and what you want in terms of remuneration, it means they are more interested in filling space, than hiring someone who can really add value. This should be a deal breaker for a job as this place will not let you grow to your potential
Is organisation willing to make you do injustice to organisation you worked for ?
Many a times, organisation, to fill up spaces immediately, want candidates to leave their unfinished work in earlier organisation and join (with or without notice pay). This should be a deal breaker. This is because if an earlier organisation gave you a platform, the least you can do is not leave them midway. If a new organisation is willing to compromise on them, they will shortchange you as well.
